The summary/theme of the Surah Al-Isra

 The disbelievers of Makkah are admonished to take lessons from the miserable end of the Israelites and other communities and mend their ways from this Surah, which is a wonderful blend of warning, admonition, and instruction. In this Surah important event has been mentioned regarding the night journey of our Holy Prophet to the heavens and meeting with Allah

Lesson learned from Surah Al-Isra

  1. On the Day of Judgement, everyone shall be handed their book of deeds, which will have every minute detail of their lives recorded. They themselves will be able to envisage their outcome that day. 
  2. Whoever strives solely behind the luxuries of this world, Allāh will give them whatever He wishes to, not what they themselves want, and then doom them to Jahannam.
  3. Whoever strives to acquire the luxuries of the Hereafter properly, Allāh will appreciate his/her efforts. 
  4. Each person will be responsible for his/her own burdens on the Day of Qiyāmah; not for those of others.  
  5. Be good to parents.  
  6. Make this du‘ā regularly for your parents:

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

 

وَإِذۡ قُلۡنَا لِلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ ٱسۡجُدُواْ لِأٓدَمَ فَسَجَدُوٓاْ إِلَّآ إِبۡلِيسَ قَالَ ءَأَسۡجُدُ لِمَنۡ خَلَقۡتَ طِينٗا

Transliteration:( Wa iz qulnaa lil malaaa'ikatis judoo li Aadama fasajadooo illaaa Ibleesa qaala 'a-asjudu liman khalaqta teena )

61. And when We commanded (134), angels to prostrate before Adam, then they prostrated except the Iblis. He said, 'shall I prostrate before him whom you have made of clay? (135)?

قَالَ أَرَءَيۡتَكَ هَٰذَا ٱلَّذِي كَرَّمۡتَ عَلَيَّ لَئِنۡ أَخَّرۡتَنِ إِلَىٰ يَوۡمِ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ لَأَحۡتَنِكَنَّ ذُرِّيَّتَهُۥٓ إِلَّا قَلِيلٗا

Transliteration:( Qaala ara'aytaka haazal lazee karramta 'alaiya la'in akhartani ilaa Yawmil Qiyaamati la ahtanikanna zurriyyatahooo illaa qaleelaa )

62. He said 'see you, this whom you have honoured (136), above me, if you will grant me time till the day of judgement then I shall assuredly (137) crush his children but a few (138).

قَالَ ٱذۡهَبۡ فَمَن تَبِعَكَ مِنۡهُمۡ فَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ جَزَآؤُكُمۡ جَزَآءٗ مَّوۡفُورٗا

Transliteration:( Qaalaz hab faman tabi'aka minhum fa inna Jahannama jazaaa'ukum jazaaa'am mawfooraa )

63. He said, 'get away (139), therefore who so of them will follow you, then the recompense of all is Hell, a full punishment (140)

وَٱسۡتَفۡزِزۡ مَنِ ٱسۡتَطَعۡتَ مِنۡهُم بِصَوۡتِكَ وَأَجۡلِبۡ عَلَيۡهِم بِخَيۡلِكَ وَرَجِلِكَ وَشَارِكۡهُمۡ فِي ٱلۡأَمۡوَٰلِ وَٱلۡأَوۡلَٰدِ وَعِدۡهُمۡۚ وَمَا يَعِدُهُمُ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُ إِلَّا غُرُورًا

Transliteration:( Wastafziz manis tata'ta minhum bisawtika wa ajlib 'alaihim bikhailika wa rajilika wa shaarik hum fil amwaali wal awlaadi wa 'idhum; wa maa ya'iduhumush Shaitaanu illaa ghurooraa )

64. And stagger whosoever of them you can with your voice (141), and mobilise against them your horsemen and your footmen and share with them in their wealth and their children (142), and promise them. And Satan does not promise them but with delusion (143).

إِنَّ عِبَادِي لَيۡسَ لَكَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ سُلۡطَٰنٞۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِرَبِّكَ وَكِيلٗا

Transliteration:( Inna 'ibaadee laisa laka 'alaihim sultaan; wa kafaa bi Rabbika Wakeelaa )

65. No doubt those who are My bondsmen, you have no control (144). over them. And your Lord is sufficient as their guardian (145),

رَّبُّكُمُ ٱلَّذِي يُزۡجِي لَكُمُ ٱلۡفُلۡكَ فِي ٱلۡبَحۡرِ لِتَبۡتَغُواْ مِن فَضۡلِهِۦٓۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ بِكُمۡ رَحِيمٗا

Transliteration:( Rabbukumul lazee yuzjee lakumul fulka fil bahri litabtaghoo min fadlih; innahoo kaana bikum Raheemaa )

66. Your Lord is He who speeds for you the ship in the sea, so that you may seek His Grace (146). No doubt, He is Merciful towards you.

وَإِذَا مَسَّكُمُ ٱلضُّرُّ فِي ٱلۡبَحۡرِ ضَلَّ مَن تَدۡعُونَ إِلَّآ إِيَّاهُۖ فَلَمَّا نَجَّىٰكُمۡ إِلَى ٱلۡبَرِّ أَعۡرَضۡتُمۡۚ وَكَانَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ كَفُورًا

Transliteration:( Wa izaa massakumuddurru fil bahri dalla man tad'oona illaaa iyyaahu falammaa najjaakum ilal barri a'radtum; wa kaanal insaanu kafooraa )

67. And when any trouble approaches you in the sea, then all whom they worshipped are lost (147). except He. Then when He delivers you towards land, then you turn away your faces. And man is very ungrateful (148).

أَفَأَمِنتُمۡ أَن يَخۡسِفَ بِكُمۡ جَانِبَ ٱلۡبَرِّ أَوۡ يُرۡسِلَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ حَاصِبٗا ثُمَّ لَا تَجِدُواْ لَكُمۡ وَكِيلًا

Transliteration:( Afa amintum any yakhsifa bikum jaanibal barri aw yursila 'alaikum haasiban summa laa tajidoo lakum wakeelaa )

68. Have you then become fearless of that He may cause you to sink (149), the shore of the land with you or send you a stone storm; then you will find no supporter for yourself (150)?

أَمۡ أَمِنتُمۡ أَن يُعِيدَكُمۡ فِيهِ تَارَةً أُخۡرَىٰ فَيُرۡسِلَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ قَاصِفٗا مِّنَ ٱلرِّيحِ فَيُغۡرِقَكُم بِمَا كَفَرۡتُمۡ ثُمَّ لَا تَجِدُواْ لَكُمۡ عَلَيۡنَا بِهِۦ تَبِيعٗا

Transliteration:( Am amintum any yu'eedakum feehi taaratan ukhraa fa yursila 'alaikum qaasifam minar reehi fa yugh riqakum bimaa kafartum summa laa tajidoo lakum 'alainaa bihee tabee'aa )

69. Or have you become fearless of that He may carry you back in the sea for the second (151), time, then it is sent upon you a breaking storm blast then He may cause you to drown because of your infidelity, then you will not find anyone who may pursue against Us (152)?

۞وَلَقَدۡ كَرَّمۡنَا بَنِيٓ ءَادَمَ وَحَمَلۡنَٰهُمۡ فِي ٱلۡبَرِّ وَٱلۡبَحۡرِ وَرَزَقۡنَٰهُم مِّنَ ٱلطَّيِّبَٰتِ وَفَضَّلۡنَٰهُمۡ عَلَىٰ كَثِيرٖ مِّمَّنۡ خَلَقۡنَا تَفۡضِيلٗا

Transliteration:( Wa laqad karramnaa Baneee aadama wa hamalnaahum fil barri walbahri wa razaqnaahum minat taiyibaati wa faddalnaahum 'alaa kaseerim mimman khalaqnaa tafdeelaa (section 7) )

70. And no doubt, We honoured the children of Adam (153), and got them ride in the land and sea (154), and provided them with clean things (155), and preferred them over many of Our creations (156),
