The summary/theme of the Surah Ash-Shūrā :

Allah has kept destiny in His own hands. Prophets have come only to awaken the heedless and lead the stray ones to the right path. It is Allah's responsibility to punish those who fail to listen to him, not the Prophet's work, to call to account those who fail to listen to him.

Lesson learned from Surah Ash-Shūrā :

  1. There is nothing like Allāh.
  2. Allāh is kind to His servants; He gives provision to whomsoever He wills.
  3. Whoever wants the fruits of the Hereafter Allāh increases them for him, and whoever strives for the fruits of the world only, he is granted a little thereof, and no share from that of the Hereafter.
  4. Allāh is the only One who accepts repentance from His servants and forgives their sins.
  5. If Allāh was to make provisions plentiful and easily accessible to all His servants, they would rebel on earth.
  6. Whatever calamity befalls you, it is a consequence of your own doing; and Allāh forgives the majority anyway.
  7. To take counsel and consult others is commendable.
  8. The punishment for an act of oppression is revenge of the same, however, the one who overlooks and reconciles will be rewarded handsomely by Allāh.
  9. The one who retaliates after being oppressed is nt to blame. The only blameworthy people are those who wrongfully oppress and rebel on earth. A painful punishment awaits them.
  10. Those who bear patience and forgive are the ones truly commendable and full of resolve.
  11. Allāh grants children to whomsoever He wills. To some He grants only daughters, to some only sons, to some both, and to some nothing.

13.He has prescribed for you the religion which He enjoyed (29) upon Nuh, and that which We have revealed (30) to you and that which We enjoined (31) upon Ebrahim, Musa and Isa saying: "Remain steadfast (32) in the religion and cause no division (33) therein. Very difficult upon the pagans is that which you call (34) them . Allah chooses to Himself whom He pleases and guides those who turn (35) towards Him.

Transliteration:( Wa maa tafarraqooo illaa mim ba'di maa jaaa'ahumul 'ilmu baghyam bainahum; wa law laa Kalimatun sabaqat mir Rabbika ilaaa ajalim musammal laqudiya bainahum; wa innal lazeena oorisul Kitaaba mim ba'dihim lafee shakkim minhu mureeb )

14. And they did not divide, but after the knowledge (36) had come to them, on account of their own jealousy. And had not the saying of your Lord gone (37)forth for an appointed term, the matter would have been settled among them (38)? And surely, those who come to inherit the Book after them are also in doubt (39) and are disturbed regarding it.

Transliteration:( Falizaalika fad'u wastaqim kamaaa umirta wa laa tattabi' ahwaaa'ahum wa qul aamantu bimaaa anzalal laahu min Kitaab, wa umirtu li a'dila bainakum Allaahu Rabbunaa wa Rabbukum lanaaa a'maa lunaa wa lakum a'maalukum laa hujjata bainanaa wa baina kumul laahu yajma'u bainanaa wa ilaihil maseer )

15. So for this, you call(40) and remain steadfast(41) as you have been commanded and do not follow their evil desires (42). But please declare: "1 believe (43) in whatever Book Allah has revealed and I have been commanded that I should do justice (44) between you. Allah is our Lord and the Lord(45) of you all. For us are our deeds and for you are your(46) deeds. There is no dispute between you(47) and us. Allah will gather us together (48), and towards Him is the destination of all.

Transliteration:( Allahul lazeee anzalal Kitaaba bilhaqqi wal Meezaan; wa ma yudreeka la'allas Saa'ata qareeb )

17.Allah is He Who has revealed the Book with the truth and the balance (52) of justice. And what makes you know that the Hour is not near (53)?

Transliteration:( Yasta'jilu bihal lazeena laa yu'minoona bihaa wallazeena aamanoo mushfiqoona minhaa wa ya'lamoona annahal haqq; alaaa innal lazeena yumaaroona fis Saa'ati lafee dalaalin ba'eed )

18. Those who do not(54) believe in it seek to hasten it, and those who believe therein are dreadful(55) of it and know that surely, it is the truth(56) Beware; certainly those who are in doubt concerning the Hour are indeed on a far-off wrong(57) path.
