    Indeed to Your Lord is Your Return (Surah Al-Alaq, 96:8)

    The Universal Return to Allah Almighty [11]

    1. The Return of All to Allah:

      • The verse emphasizes that everyone—whether a king or a beggar, whether in a state of wealth or poverty, whether in this world, at the time of death, in the grave, or on the Day of Judgement—will ultimately return to Allah Almighty. No one can escape this inevitable return to their Creator.
      • Thus, the notion of independence from Allah Almighty is a great folly, especially for the wealthy who may feel detached from divine dependence. The reality is that everyone is completely dependent on Allah for their existence, sustenance, and final return.

    2. Turning to Allah with Joy or Displeasure:

      • The great Sufis explain that people turn to Allah either with joy or with displeasure. Those who turn to Him with joy are seeking reward, and their turning is an act of worship.
      • On the other hand, there is a creational turning (TAKWEENI), where even the infidels are subject to Allah’s will, for everyone must face the divine judgment, whether they acknowledge it or not.

    Key Lessons from the Verse:

    1. Repentance and Turning to Allah:

      • The verse encourages the independent transgressor (the one who thinks himself independent from Allah) to not lose hope in Allah's mercy. It reminds us that we always have the opportunity to turn to Allah for repentance, regardless of our past sins or actions.
      • Repentance is a crucial act, and it is never too late to seek forgiveness from Allah, as long as the pangs of death have not yet arrived.

    2. The Timing of Repentance:

      • Repentance for infidelity can only be accepted while a person is still alive and before death approaches. Once the pangs of death begin, repentance for infidelity becomes impossible.
      • Repentance for sins, however, can still be accepted at the time of death, as long as the individual has sincere remorse and seeks forgiveness.
