The Trustworthiness and Authority of Hazrat Jibraeel (Peace Be Upon Him)

"He is obeyed and is trustworthy." (Surah At-Takweer: 21)

1. The Trustworthiness of Hazrat Jibraeel (Peace Be Upon Him)

17. This verse highlights two essential qualities of Hazrat Jibraeel (peace be upon him): obedience and trustworthiness.

  • Obedience of Angels: All angels obey Hazrat Jibraeel (peace be upon him) as he is the chief of the angels and the bearer of Divine Revelation.
  • Entrusted with Revelation: He is the guardian of Allah’s words, ensuring that the Quran is transmitted without any addition or alteration.
  • Preservation of the Quran: Since the Quran was perfectly revealed from the heavens, it was also preserved accurately on Earth.
  • Trustworthiness of the Prophets: Just as Jibraeel (peace be upon him) was entrusted with revelation, the Prophets also had to be completely trustworthy in delivering Allah’s message.
  • Trustworthiness of the Companions: The noble Companions who compiled and preserved the Quran were also completely reliable, ensuring its purity remained intact. Anyone who doubts their integrity is indirectly questioning the authenticity of the Quran itself.

2. The Attributes of the Holy Prophet ﷺ

Some commentators suggest that these qualities—obedience and trustworthiness—also describe the Holy Prophet ﷺ.

  • The Prophet for All Times and Places: The Holy Prophet ﷺ is a universal Messenger for all of humanity.
  • Generosity and Strength: He is exceptionally generous in both wealth and affairs. He also possesses immense physical and spiritual strength.
  • Divine Power in His Blessed Being: His eyes, ears, hands, and feet reflect divine strength and perfection, as reported in Hadith.

3. The Honour and Authority of the Holy Prophet ﷺ

  • His Rank in the Court of Allah: He enjoys immense honour and respect in the Divine Presence.
  • Respect for His Devotees: Those who sincerely devote themselves to him also receive divine respect and blessings.
  • Authority Over Creation: Allah Almighty listens to his prayers, and the entire creation is under his command.
  • The Ultimate Trustee: He is the trustee of Allah’s divine trusts.

4. The Quran Through the Blessed Tongue of the Prophet ﷺ

  • Transformation into the Quran: When the Holy Prophet ﷺ recited the Divine Scripture, it became the Quran.
  • The Blessed Tongue: How excellent is the tongue that turns the Divine Scripture into the sacred Quran!
