📖 Tafseer (Commentary) of Surah Al-Ghashiyah (88:23)
🔹 But whoever turns away and disbelieves.
This verse refers to those who reject the truth despite receiving guidance.
1️⃣ Forms of Turning Away & Disbelief
🔴 Rejecting the Qur’an:
- Denying its divine origin, its laws, or its eternal preservation.
- Considering it just a human creation instead of the word of اللَّهُ.
🔴 Rejecting the Prophet ﷺ:
- Denying his Prophethood or rejecting his instructions and Sunnah.
- Disbelieving in his miracles, noble character, and divine authority.
🔴 Turning Away from Guidance:
- Being heedless of Islamic teachings and refusing to follow the truth.
- Ignoring the commands of اللَّهُ and preferring worldly desires over faith.
2️⃣ Two Important Issues Derived from This Verse
✅ Obedience to the Prophet ﷺ is Obligatory
- The verse uses the word ‘whoever’ (من تولى) without any condition.
- This means that everyone is obligated to obey Prophet Muhammad ﷺ without exception.
- Rejecting his Sunnah is equal to rejecting اللَّهُ's guidance.
✅ Respect for the Qur’an & Pious People
- Sitting with one's back towards the Qur’an or righteous scholars is a sign of disrespect.
- Although this is not direct disbelief, it shows carelessness towards religious values.
- One must show reverence to the Qur’an, its teachings, and the righteous servants of اللَّهُ.
