📖 The Exhaustion of the Sinners

📖 Tafseer (Commentary) of Surah Al-Ghashiyah (88:4)

🔹 Toiling and Tired on the Day of Judgment

On the Day of Judgment, the sinners will be in a state of extreme exhaustion and suffering.
Mountains of fire will rise and fall, intensifying their torment. (اللَّهُ) Allah says:
"Soon I shall cause him to ascend to the mountain of fire sand." (Surah Al-Muddathir 74:17)

1️⃣ Their Punishment and Suffering

📖 The torment of the sinners will include:
🔹 Their gold and silver will be turned into burning metal sheets and branded onto their ribs and foreheads.
🔹 Their own animals will pierce them with horns and trample them under their hooves.

2️⃣ The Worldly Toil Without Reward

📖 Some people:
🔹 Spend their entire lives in worldly affairs, forgetting to remember (اللَّهُ) Allah.
🔹 Perform deeds that seem good but gain no reward in the Hereafter, like:

  • Irreligious Muslims performing fasts, prayers, and writing books yet lacking true faith.

3️⃣ The Essential Link to the Holy Prophet ﷺ

Without the love and protection of the Holy Prophet ﷺ, all worship is in vain.
✅ Just as:
🔹 An electrical fitting is useless without power,
🔹 A body is useless without a soul,
🔹 Acts of worship are useless without the love of the Prophet ﷺ.

Ala-Maududi

(88:3) be toiling and worn-out;

There is no commentary by Abul Maududi available for this verse.

(3) Working [hard] and exhausted.[1910]

[1910]- Another accepted meaning is "They were working hard and exhausted," i.e., doing deeds during worldly life which did not benefit them since they were not accompanied by faith or done for the acceptance of Allāh (subḥānahu wa taʿālā) .
