Transliteration:( Wa laa yatamannaw nahooo abadam bimaa qaddamat aydeehim; wallaahu 'aleemum biz zaalimeen )
"But they will never wish for it because of what their hands have sent ahead; and Allah knows well the unjust people."
This verse explains why the Jews did not accept the challenge to wish for death—they were fully aware of their wrongdoings.
The phrase “what their hands have sent ahead” refers to their sins, disobedience, and rejection of truth.
Due to this, they dreaded the Hereafter, knowing they would face consequences.
Even today, some communities like Jews and Hindus are seen to deeply fear death, often abandoning others during crises like plagues, showing an inner certainty of accountability.
While some believers may fear death, this is a different kind of awe—not due to guilt, but out of reverence for the Hereafter and the seriousness of facing Divine Judgment.
Allah declares that He is fully aware of the unjust (Zaalimoon)—in this context, those who knowingly reject the truth.
Though belief and disbelief are states of the heart, Allah has made their signs visible through people's actions, speech, and choices.
No injustice or hidden hypocrisy is beyond His knowledge, and such people will face the consequences of their denial.

Please refer to Surah Jumuah ayat 5 which provides the complete commentary from verse 5 through 9.
(62:7) But they shall never wish for death because of the (evil) deeds they have committed.[13] Allah is well aware of these evil-doers.
13. In other words, their flight from death is not without a reason. Whatever they may say, their conscience is fully aware of how they are behaving towards Allah and His religion and what consequences can be expected of the misdeeds they are committing in the world. That is why they are afraid to appear at the court of God.
