Transliteration:( Yaa ayyuhal lazeena aamanoo lima taqooloona maa laa taf'aloon )
2 Reason for its Revelation:
Some of the Companions, prior to the ordinance of Jihad, had been saying that had they known which action was most beloved to Allah Almighty they would engage themselves in doing that, even if it meant sacrificing our lives and wealth. But after the ordinance was revealed, some of them became afraid. At that occasion, this verse was revealed.
3. In this verse many different conditions are found: inform people of beneficial things without acting upon them himself i.e. preacher without action; making promises without fulfilling them ie the defaulter of promises at the time of making a promise firmly resolves that he will not carry out his promise. In other words, he makes a mere verbal promise to deceive the people. In this verse we are being stopped from such actions.
