Surah As-Sajdah Ayat 7 Tafsir (Commentry)

  • Tafseer-e-Naeemi (Ahmad Yaar Khan)
  • Ibn Kathir
  • Ala-Madudi

15. Thus, whoever has been given the shape and appearance has been correctly provided and every limb of the body appropriately joined Allah be praised'

16. Although the animals, too. are created from sand, but man's creation from sand is the reflection of the unique power of Allah Almighty Hence, his creation has been, mentioned specifically. Our being from sand could mean that our ancestral father, Hazret Adam (On whom be peace) is created from sand Or. that we are created from sperm, the sperm is from nourishment and the nourishment is from sand.

Ibn-Kathir

7. Who made everything He has created good and He began the creation of man from clay. 8. Then He made his offspring from semen of despised water. 9. Then He fashioned him in due proportion, and breathed into him the soul; and He gave you hearing, sight and the sense of deduction. Little is the thanks you give!

The Creation of Man in Stages

Allah tells us that He has created everything well and formed everything in a goodly fashion. Malik said, narrating from Zayd bin Aslam:

﴿الَّذِى أَحْسَنَ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقَهُ﴾

(Who made everything He has created good) means, “He created everything well and in a goodly fashion.” When Allah mentions the creation of the heavens and the earth, He follows that by mentioning the creation of man. Allah says:

(and He began the creation of man from clay.) meaning, He created the father of mankind, Adam, from clay.

(Then He made his offspring from semen of despised water.) means, they reproduce in this fashion, from a Nutfah which comes from the loins of men and from between the ribs of women.

(Then He fashioned him in due proportion,) means, when He created Adam from clay, He created him and gave him shape and made him upright.

(and breathed into him the soul; and He gave you hearing, sight and the sense of deduction.) means, reason.

(Little is the thanks you give!) means, for these strengths with which Allah has provided you; the one who is truly blessed is the one who uses them to worship and obey his Lord, may He be exalted and glorified.

(32:7) He Who excelled in the creation of all that He created.[13] He originated the creation of man from clay,

13. That is, “In this limitless universe, He has created countless numbers of things, but none of them is ugly and ill-shaped: everything has its own special beauty: everything is proportionate and symmetrical in its own way. Whatever He has made for a particular purpose, He has given it the most appropriate form and invested it with the most suitable qualities for it. No better and more appropriate structure could be conceived, for example, for the eye and the ear which have been made for seeing and hearing. The air has precisely the same qualities which it should have for the purpose for which it has been made, and the water precisely the same qualities for the purpose for which it has been made. No one can point out any defect or flaw in the design of anything made by God; nor can anyone offer an alteration or modification in it.”
