Transliteration:( Fa a'rid 'anhum wantazir innahum muntaziroon (section 3) )
"Therefore turn [58] away from them and wait. Indeed they are also waiting."
This verse instructs the Prophet ﷺ to withdraw from engaging with the mocking disbelievers and to patiently wait for Allah’s decision.
If interpreted to mean "do not wage war against them", then this command was abrogated by later verses of Jihad that mandated defensive and, at times, offensive warfare.
However, if understood as "do not incline toward them with affection or friendliness", then this command remains firm and timeless.
Even today, this verse teaches believers to avoid responding to the absurdities and mockery of disbelievers with similar behavior. Instead, maintain dignity and patience, trusting that Allah will judge and respond at the right time.
