📖 Commentary of Verse 10 – Surah Al-Munafiqun (63:10)

"And spend from what We have provided you before death comes to any of you, and he says, 'My Lord, if You would delay me for a little while, I would give in charity and be among the righteous.'"

💸 Spend from Allah’s Provision [30]

This refers to Zakaat and all obligatory acts of charity. But the deeper meaning, according to the pious sages, includes every form of provision from Allah.
Spend your breath for His sake, walk in His path, look at what brings you closer to Him, and speak words that please Him.

In short, “what We have provided” is not limited to wealth — it's your entire being and every blessing.

🕯️ Before the Moment of Death Arrives [31]

The warning is clear: give before death overtakes you.
When death approaches, the ability to act fades. Speech becomes impossible, and the opportunity is lost.

This shows there’s no room for doubt — the verse is direct and undeniable.

🕰️ A Desperate Plea for Delay [32]

As death arrives, the soul begs:
"If only I had more time..."
This wish is filled with regret, not sincere longing for righteousness. It’s a desperate plea, not a true intention.

Such regret comes too late to be of value.

🤲 False Regret vs. True Charity [33]

The desire to give charity at the time of death is not rewardable — because it’s driven by fear, not faith.

The Hadith confirms:

“Charity given while one is healthy and hopeful is twice as virtuous as charity given on one’s deathbed.”

Ibn-Kathir
