Transliteration:( Humul lazeena yaqooloona laa tunfiqoo 'alaa man inda Rasoolil laahi hatta yanfaddoo; wa lillaahi khazaaa' inus samaawaati wal ardi wa laakinnal munaafiqeena la yafqahoon )
"They are the ones who say, 'Do not spend on those who are with the Messenger of Allah until they disperse.' But to Allah belong the treasures of the heavens and the earth, yet the hypocrites do not understand."
This refers to the evil plan of Abdullah ibn Ubayy, the chief of the hypocrites, who urged people not to support the companions of the Prophet ﷺ financially, hoping that hardship would cause them to leave him.
Allah Almighty rebukes this mindset, making it clear: those who oppose and try to undermine the Sahabah will not be forgiven.
From this, we learn: serving the companions is an expression of true faith, while opposing them is a sign of hypocrisy.
The hypocrites' goal was to financially isolate the Prophet ﷺ, assuming that if his companions left due to poverty, he would be left vulnerable.
This was a direct attack on the unity of the early Muslim community, but also a sign of how disconnected the hypocrites were from the spiritual bond between the Prophet ﷺ and his true followers.
Allah Almighty responds by reminding them that all sustenance and wealth belong to Him—He is the One who provides for all.
Despite their scheming, Allah enriched the companions. Indeed, the once-poor Muhajireen and Ansaar later became wealthy under Islamic rule—a fulfillment of Allah's promise.
Their shallow minds could not comprehend that the companions’ bond with the Prophet ﷺ was unbreakable.
Their plans failed because true believers rely on Allah, not on wealth or circumstances.
The hypocrites thought that by cutting off material support, faith would crumble. But real faith is not dependent on wealth—it is rooted in the heart and sustained by trust in Allah.
