Transliteration:( Zaalika bi annal laaha Huwal Haqqu wa anna maa yad'oona min doonihil baatilu wa annal laaha Huwal 'Aliyyul Kabeer (section 3) )

30.This is because Allah is the only Truth and that which they worship besides Him are all falsehood (66). This is because only Allah is the Highest, incomparably the Greatest.

Surah Luqman Ayat 30 Tafsir (Commentry)

  • Tafseer-e-Naeemi (Ahmad Yaar Khan)
  • Ibn Kathir
  • Ala-Madudi

66. Here, the word truth denotes eternity and falschood signifies transitory. Or, truth means one who is true and falsehood denotes one who is false. It therefore means Allah Almighty is eternal and these idols are temporary Or. that Allah Almighty is absolute Truth and the idol deities are false. The proof of this is following the true deity should be one who is the possessor of every loftiness and greatness. The idols are neither lofty or possess any greatness. Therefore. how did they become objects of worship? One should also remember that some people worship the Prophets, yet the QURAN has not declared them to be false because these Prophets are the embodiment of Truth.

For this reason Allah Almighty in this verse has used the pronoun "that which" which is used on inanimate objects i.e. your stones, trees, etc are false deities .The pronoun "that" is used subjectively to state that your worship of all these deities besides Allah Almighty is false.

Ibn-Kathir

The tafsir of Surah Luqman verse 30 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
Please refer to Surah Luqman ayat 29 which provides the complete commentary from verse 29 through 30.

(31:30) All this is because Allah, He alone, is the Truth[52] and all that which they call upon beside Him is false.[53] Surely Allah, He alone, is All-High, Incomparably Great.[54]

Ala-Maududi

(31:30) All this is because Allah, He alone, is the Truth[52] and all that which they call upon beside Him is false.[53] Surely Allah, He alone, is All-High, Incomparably Great.[54]

52. That is, “They are figments of your own imagination. You have yourselves presumed that so-and-so has got a share in Godhead, and so-and-so has been given the powers to remove hardships and fulfill needs, whereas in fact none of them has any power to make or un-make anything.”

53. That is, “He is the Highest of all before Whom everything is low, and He is the Greatest of all before Whom everything is small.”

54. That is, such signs show that all powers rest only with Allah. Man may make as strong and suitable ships for his sea journeys as he likes, and may achieve whatever perfection in marine science and in the related knowledge and experience, these by themselves cannot avail him anything to perform safe voyages especially when confronted by the terrible forces at the sea, unless he is succored by the grace of Allah. As soon as Allah’s grace is withdrawn, man immediately realizes how meager and insufficient are the means and resources and knowledge of the sciences. Similarly, man in the state of peace and security may be a hardened atheist or polytheist, but when his boat loses balance in the storm at sea, even the atheist comes to realize that there is God and the polytheist that there is only One God.
