Transliteration:( Fal Yawma laa yu'khazu minkum fidyatunw wa laa minal lazeena kafaroo; ma'waakumun Naaru hiya maw laakum wa bi'sal maseer )
"So this day no ransom shall be accepted from you, nor from the disbelievers. Your refuge is the Fire. It is your companion. And what an evil destination it is."
✅ [49] No Ransom Will Be Accepted
This means that neither hypocrites nor infidels will be able to offer anything in exchange for their salvation. In fact, no ransom will be accepted from them at all. According to some scholars, on the Day of Judgment, the disbelievers will become the ransom for sincere believers, but hypocrites and open rejecters will have no such hope. Their time for redemption has ended.
✅ [50] Similar Fate of Hypocrites and Disbelievers
This verse highlights that both hypocrites and infidels will face the same end: Hell. Scholars mention four types of people—(1) sincere believers, (2) clear disbelievers, (3) hypocrites with hidden disbelief, and (4) Saatir, a rare case of someone whose tongue shows disbelief but heart holds faith. Both hypocrites and infidels wil face the same punishment, as their reality is disbelief, whether hidden or open.
The tafsir of Surah Hadid verse 15 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
Please refer to Surah Hadid ayat 12 which provides the complete commentary from verse 12 through 15.
(57:15) So no ransom shall be accepted from you today, nor from those who disbelieved.[26] You are destined for the Fire. That will be your guardian.[27] And that indeed is a grievous destination.
26. This clearly shows that in the Hereafter the hypocrites will be doomed to the same fate as the disbelievers.
27. The words hiya maula kum (Hell is your maula) can have two meanings:
(1) That Hell is the only proper place for you.
(2) That you never took Allah as your maula (friend, patron) so that He may look after you. Now Hell only is your maula, therefore, Hell now will look after you.
