29. The Followers of the Book may know that they have no control [105] over the Grace of Allah and that the grace is entirely in the Hands of Allah to give it to whom He Pleases [106]. And Allah is Possessor of all Bounty [107]. (Kanzul Imaan Translation)

(29) [This is] so that the People of the Scripture may know that they are not able [to obtain] anything from the bounty of Allāh[1636] and that [all] bounty is in the hand[1637] of Allāh; He gives it to whom He wills. And Allāh is the possessor of great bounty. (Saheen International Translation)

📖 Verse 29 (Surah Al-Hadid – The Iron)

"So that the People of the Book may know that they have no control over the Grace of Allah [105], and that the grace is entirely in the Hands of Allah, to give it to whom He pleases [106]. And Allah is the Possessor of all Bounty [107]."

[105] No Reward Without Belief in the Final Prophet
This verse refutes the belief of some among the People of the Book who claimed they would receive a reward even without accepting Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. It makes clear that no reward is granted unless they believe in him. Without this, even previous faith holds no weight in the Divine court.

[106] Grace Is Not Earned by Lineage or Deeds Alone
This verse asserts that Divine Grace is not a matter of one’s own merit or ancestral claim. True reward—including double reward for embracing Islam—is only for those who submit to Allah’s final message. Without belief, deeds alone do not suffice.

[107] Prophethood Is Not Limited to Any Nation
The claim of some Israelites that Prophethood is exclusive to their lineage is rejected here. Allah gave Prophethood to the progeny of Ismail (AS)—through the Holy Prophet ﷺ. Grace, Bounty, and Prophethood are distributed by Allah alone, and He chooses whom He wills, without bias or restriction.
