Quran Quote  :

Quran-46:18 Surah Al-ahqaf English Translation,Transliteration and Tafsir(Tafseer).

Transliteration:( Ulaaa'ikal lazeena haqqa 'alaihimul qawlu feee umamin qad khalat min qablihim minal jinni wal insi innahum kaanoo khaasireen )

18.These are they against whom the sentence (of Allah) has already become due (53), along with jinns and mankind who had gone before them. Certainly they were the losers (54) to perish.

53. This means the painful end of these infidels will be with the previous infidels. This tells us that on the Day of Judgement birds of a feather will flock together i.e. the believers will be with the believers and the infidels will be with the infidels. May Allah Almighty resurrect us with the pious. We further learn that the non-believing children will not be with their believing parents on the Day of Judgement, but with the infidels because here it is mentioned these children would be with the previous non-believing jinns and human beings.

On the Day Of Judgement only relationship of beliefs will be given credence and not just blood relations. Kanaan was the biological son of Nuh (On whom be peace) but since he remained with the infidels, he was destroyed with them and will be going into Hell with them.

54 This tells us that to be resurrected with the evil on the Day of Judgement is a means of loss and harm.

Ibn-Kathir

The tafsir of Surah Ahqaf verse 18 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
Please refer to Surah Ahqaf ayat 17 which provides the complete commentary from verse 17 through 20.

(46:18) It is against such that Allah’s sentence (of punishment) has become due. They will join the communities of humans and jinn that have preceded them. Verily all of them will court utter loss.[22]

22. Here, two types of the character have been placed side by side and the listeners are asked the silent question as to which of them is better. At that time both these types of character practically existed in the society, and it was not at all difficult for the people to know where they could find the first type of the character and where the second. This is the answer to this saying of the chiefs of the Quraish: If it had been any good to believe in this Book, these few youngsters and slaves would not have believed in it before they did. In the light of this answer everyone could see for himself as to what was the character of the believers and what of the unbelievers.
