Transliteration:( Li ayyi yawmin ujjilat )
"For what day they have been appointed."
This verse emphasizes that the testimony of the Messengers and the final judgment of their communities were not settled in this world. Rather, they were delayed for the Day of Judgment when every action and decision will be accounted for.
The Day of Judgment is the day when divine justice will be fully manifested. On this day, every individual will be judged according to their deeds, and the Messengers will testify about how their people responded to their message.
Surah Al-Infitar (82:17): "Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure, and indeed, the wicked will be in Hellfire." – The final decision about people's deeds is postponed until this day when they will be rewarded or punished accordingly.
Surah Al-Mulk (67:13): "And if you speak aloud, then indeed He knows the secret and what is even more hidden." – This verse reminds that all deeds and words will be judged on the appointed day.
This verse reinforces the idea that the reckoning and the final decisions about people's responses to the Prophets and their deeds will happen at the appointed time of the Day of Judgment. It stresses that what is delayed now will be accounted for then, and nothing will be overlooked.
