📖 Commentary of Verse 19 (Surah Al-Mursalat)
"Woe on that day to those who belied it (the truth)."
Disgrace for the Disbelievers: This verse speaks of the disgrace that will fall upon the disbelievers when the punishment arrives. They will not be given the opportunity to repent once the punishment is sent, as it will come swiftly and decisively. (Tafseer Roohul Mu'ani).
Worldly Punishment vs. The Day of Judgment: This verse is not repetitive. Initially, it referred to the Day of Judgment, where all will be held accountable for their actions. However, in this verse, it refers to the coming of the punishment in this world. The disbelievers will experience disgrace before the final Day of Judgment, facing immediate retribution without the chance for repentance. (Tafseer Roohul Mu'ani).
Finality of Disbelief: The verse emphasizes the finality of their rejection of the truth. Once the punishment comes, the disbelievers will have no more opportunities to repent, as it will be swift and unrelenting.
Surah At-Tawbah (9:74): "They swear by Allah that they did not speak, but they certainly spoke the word of disbelief."
This verse aligns with the disgrace mentioned here, where those who denied the truth will face severe punishment without any further opportunity for repentance.

(77:19) Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth![10]
10. This sentence in the present context means: The fate they have met or will meet in the world, is not their real punishment; their real doom will descend on them on the Day of Decision. The punishment here is only in the nature of a person’s being arrested when he commits one crime after the other fearlessly and is not inclined to mend and change his ways. The court where his case is to be decided and he is to be punished for all his misdeeds, will not be established in this world but in the Hereafter, and that indeed will be the real day of his ruin and disaster.
