41.Undoubtedly, Allah upholds the heavens and the earth lest they deviate (120), If they deviate there will be none to hold (121) them except Allah.Indeed, He is Allah, the Clement, All-Forgiving (122).

Surah Fatir Ayat 41 Tafsir (Commentry)

  • Tafseer-e-Naeemi (Ahmad Yaar Khan)
  • Ibn Kathir
  • Ala-Madudi

120. This tells us that neither the earth nor the sky is in motion. Only the stars, the moon and he sun are in motion. Says Allah Almighty: And each one is floating in the orbit (S36 V40) The word vanishing denotes moving whether the movement is straight or it is artificial. Thus, even the ancien: philosophy. which advocated the movement of the sky, is false, so is modern philosophy which accepts that the earth moves on its own parts

121. In that there are none who can move it trom its place or put it on its place

122  Despite your polytheism Allah Almighty has kept the earth and the sky in anchorage. And due to the wickedness of these infidels,He should have made these to break apart, thereby putting the order of the world into total chaos. The author of Tafseer Roohal Bayaan says that Allah Almighty is tolerant with the infidels and compassionate and forgiving to the believers, Who does not make haste in meting out punishment. Forgiving is that Being Who does not punish at all. but rather grants pardon

Ibn-Kathir

The tafsir of Surah Fatir verse 41 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
Please refer to Surah Fatir ayat 40 which provides the complete commentary from verse 40 through 41.

(35:41) Surely Allah holds the heavens and the earth, lest they should be displaced there, for if they were displaced none would be able to hold them after Him.[69]Surely He is Most Forbearing, Most Forgiving.[70]

69. That is, this limitless universe is being sustained by Allah alone. No angel, or jinn, or prophet, or saint can sustain it. Not to speak of sustaining the universe these helpless creatures do not even have the power to sustain their own selves. Each one of them is entirely dependent on Allah Almighty for his birth and survival every moment. To think that any one of them has any share in the attributes and powers of divinity is sheer folly and deception.

70. That is, it is Allah’s Clemency and Forbearance that He is not seizing the culprits immediately in punishment in spite of All kinds of disobedience which are being shown towards Him.
