📖 Commentary of Surah Fatir – Verse 35

"Who out of His Bounty [98] has made us settle in a place of comfort wherein no trouble [99] reaches us and nor any weariness affects us."

✅ 98. Paradise Is Granted Through His Grace

From this, we learn that entering Paradise is solely through the grace of Allah Almighty, not purely by virtue of our good deeds. Therefore, no righteous person should feel pride in his piety. Even the provisions, garments, and pleasures in Paradise are due to His bounty, not as a direct recompense for any action.

✅ 99. No Pain, No Hardship Ever Again

In Paradise, there will be no disease, no death, no conflict, no trials of religion, and no mischief of the lower self. All such troubles have been forever eliminated.

Ibn-Kathir

(35:35) (the Lord) Who, out of His Bounty, has made us dwell in an abode[60]wherein no toil, nor fatigue affects us.[61]

Ala-Maududi

(35:35) (the Lord) Who, out of His Bounty, has made us dwell in an abode[60]wherein no toil, nor fatigue affects us.[61]

60. That is, the world was a stage in our journey of life, which we have crossed, and the plain of Resurrection also is a stage of the same journey, which we have also crossed. Now we have reached a place which is our eternal abode: we have not to go elsewhere from here.

61. In other words, all our toils and afflictions have come to an end. Now we do not have to perform any work here in carrying out which we might have to experience any rigor or hardship and after carrying out which we might be fatigued.

(35) He who has settled us in the home of duration [i.e., Paradise] out of His bounty. There touches us not in it any fatigue, and there touches us not in it weariness [of mind]."
