📖 Commentary of Verse 31 (Surah Al-Qamar)

"Certainly, We sent against them a single cry. They became like dry trampled grass."

✅ [42] The Single Cry of Punishment

In this verse, a single cry refers to a mighty rebuke from Hazrat Jibraeel (On whom be peace), which shattered the hearts of the people of Thamud. This cry symbolizes a severe divine punishment, causing death and destruction with its overwhelming force, similar to how thunder and lightning strike fear into people's hearts, sometimes even causing death.

✅ [43] Decay and Disgrace

The verse further describes how the bodies of the Thamud were left in a state of decay, trampled like dry grass, without anyone to bury them. This imagery reflects the disgrace of their death, in contrast to the honor bestowed upon a believer in life and death.

(54:31) Behold, We sent a single Blast against them, and they became like the trampled twigs of a sheep pen-builder.[21]

Ala-Maududi

(54:31) Behold, We sent a single Blast against them, and they became like the trampled twigs of a sheep pen-builder.[21]

21. The crushed and rotten bodies of the people of Thamud have been compared to the trampled and trodden twigs and pieces of bush lying around an enclosure for cattle.

(31) Indeed, We sent upon them one shriek [i.e., blast from the sky], and they became like the dry twig fragments of an [animal] pen.
