Quran Quote  :

Quran-47:33 Surah Muhammad English Translation,Transliteration and Tafsir(Tafseer).

Transliteration:( Yaaa ayyuhal lazeena aamanoo atee'ul laaha wa atee'ur Rasoola wa laa tubtilooo a'maalakum )

33. O believers (80) Obey Allah and His Messenger (81), and let not your deeds go in vain (82).

Surah Muhammad Ayat 33 Tafsir (Commentry)

  • Tafseer-e-Naeemi (Ahmad Yaar Khan)
  • Ibn Kathir
  • Ala-Madudi

80. From this call two issues become evident: 1. Islamic worships are not compulsory on the infidels. First accept faith then perform Salaah, Fasting, etc.

2. In the address to the believers it is not pecessary that the Holy Prophet hould be included in it. Observe, in this is address, the Holy Prophet not included.

81. From this, emerge two issues: 1. It is obligatory to accept the commands of Hadith with those of the Holy QURAN, because the order concerning obedience to the Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم is given separately.

2. The obedience to Allah Almighty is only respect of the commands, but the obedience is both to the Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم command and action. For this reason obedience has been mentioned at two places. Some believers had been of the opinion that just as polytheism destroys all good deeds. through the blessing of the faith all the sins do not cause any harm, i.e. after accepting faith a Muslim can do whatever he desires. Regarding such people, this verse was revealed.

82. This tells us that one should not stop doing a good deed he had commenced. Once one begins performing voluntary (Nafl) Salaah it is forbidden to leave it.

The jurists of Islam say every Nafi act, after commencement becomes an obligatory act. Their proof for it is this verse, as well as that action of the Holy Prophet .صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم wearing the Ihram for Nafl Umrah which he was unable to perform, but which he completed on the occasion of the Treaty of Hudaibiyya a year later.

Ibn-Kathir

The tafsir of Surah Muhammad verse 33 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
Please refer to Surah Muhammad ayat 32 which provides the complete commentary from verse 32 through 35.

(47:33) Believers, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and do not cause your works to be nullified.[40]

Ala-Maududi

(47:33) Believers, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and do not cause your works to be nullified.[40]

40. In other words, the deeds being beneficial and yielding of good results depends wholly on one’s obedience to Allah and His Messenger. After one has turned away from obedience, no deed remains a good deed so that one may deserve any reward for it.
