📖 Commentary of Surah Al-Jāthiyah – Verse 33

"And the evil (consequences) of their deeds will become apparent [71] to them, and they will be encircled by the punishment that you mocked at [72]."

✅ [71] Evil Deeds Exposed

Their evil deeds will appear to them in a detestable form, causing them to flee from them in horror, as mentioned in Hadith.
Alternatively, it refers to the punishment of disbelief and sins, which was hidden in the world, but now made fully visible.
May Allah protect us from such exposure!

✅ [72] Mocked Punishment Comes True

According to Tafseer Roohul Bayaan, the word “become apparent” refers to punishment, not mercy.
This punishment will surround them entirely, like something closing in from all directions—the very same torment they used to mock.

Ibn-Kathir

(45:33) (On that Day) the evil of their deeds will become apparent to them[45] and what they had mocked at will encompass them,

Ala-Maududi

(45:33) (On that Day) the evil of their deeds will become apparent to them[45] and what they had mocked at will encompass them,

45. That is, there they will come to know that their ways of behavior, their practices and manners, and their actions and pastimes, which they regarded as very good in the world were, in fact, very bad: they had committed a basic mistake in thinking that they were not answerable to anyone, and this had rendered their entire lifework fruitless and vain.

(33) And the evil consequences of what they did will appear to them, and they will be enveloped by what they used to ridicule.
