Transliteration:( Kazaalikal azaab, wa la'azaabul aakhirati akbar; law kaanoo ya'lamoon )
"Such is the punishment here, and certainly, the punishment of the Hereafter is greater. Did they but know?"
This verse serves as a warning to the disbelievers of Makkah, urging them to reflect on their actions and think about their end. It emphasizes that the punishment they may face in this world is nothing compared to the punishment of the Hereafter, which is far more severe.
The verse teaches that worldly punishments cannot lessen the severity of the punishment in the Hereafter. No matter how harsh the worldly punishment, it will always be lesser than the eternal torment awaiting those who reject Allah’s guidance.
This verse calls on the disbelievers to learn from the people of Zarwaan, who repented after their garden was destroyed. The lesson is clear: those who fail to reflect on their actions and repent will face a far greater punishment in the Hereafter.
