Transliteration:( Am 'indahumul ghaibu fahum yaktuboon )
"Or, have they knowledge of the unseen, so that they write it down?"
This verse challenges the disbelievers who rejected the Prophet's message, asking whether they possess knowledge of the unseen. Allah questions them, implying that if they had such knowledge, they could write down their own heavenly book to provide guidance, just as the Holy Qur'an does.
The "unseen" refers to the Divine Tablet or the knowledge and guidance that are with Allah alone, which the Prophet (PBUH) was given access to. The disbelievers, in their arrogance, claim knowledge of matters beyond human capacity, but Allah reminds them that only He has the knowledge of the unseen.
The tafsir of Surah Qalam verse 47 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
Please refer to Surah Qalam ayat 42 which provides the complete commentary from verse 42 through 47.
(68:47) Or do they have any knowledge of the Unseen which they are now writing down?[30]
30. This second question also appears to be directed to the Prophet (peace be upon him), but, in fact, its audience are his opponents. It means: Have you, O people, peered behind the unseen and found that the Messenger, in fact, is not a Messenger sent by God, and the truth that he is presenting before you is also false. That is why you are being so stubborn in belying what he says For explanation, see (Surah At-Toor, ayat 41) note 32.
