Transliteration:( Am tas'aluhum ajran fahum min maghramin musqaloon )
"And do you ask from them a reward, but they are burdened with debt?"
This verse makes it clear that the Noble Prophets, including Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), do not ask for any material reward from the people for spreading the message of Prophethood. Their mission is purely for the sake of Allah, and Allah is the one who rewards them for their efforts.
However, it is the responsibility of the Ummah (the followers) to show gratitude to the Prophet. This can be done by reciting Darood (salutations) upon him, loving his family, respecting the Arab heritage, and honoring the sacred city of Madinah. Expressing appreciation is a sign of dutifulness and respect, not a payment for the Prophet's efforts.
The verse further explains that the disbelief of the infidels was not due to their fear of having to spend or offer something in return for accepting Islam, nor was it due to their stinginess. Instead, their rejection stemmed from their eternal wretchedness, which prevented them from accepting the faith and receiving Allah's favor.

(68:46) Or are you asking them for some compensation so that they feel burdened with debt?[29]
29. The question apparently is being asked of the Prophet (peace be upon him), but its real audience are the people, who were crossing all limits in their opposition to him. They are being asked: Is Our Messenger asking you for a reward which makes you feel so upset. You know that he is absolutely selfless in his invitation and is exerting himself only for your own benefit and well-being. If you do not want to believe in what he says, you may not, but why are you feeling so enraged at his this invitation to you. For further explanation, see (Surah At-Toor, ayat 40) note 31.
