Transliteration:( Wa mal lam yu'mim billaahi wa Rasoolihee fainnaaa a'tadnaa lilkaafireena sa'eeraa )
"And whosoever does not believe [34] in Allah and His Messenger, We have surely prepared for each infidel a blazing fire."
This verse highlights two powerful theological insights:
➤ 1. Rejecting the Prophet is Equal to Rejecting Allah
Anyone who denies the Prophethood of Muhammad ﷺ is equated with one who disbelieves in Allah Himself.
Both are worthy of the same punishment, which is Hellfire.
This underscores that belief in the Messenger is not optional but an essential part of faith. The Prophet ﷺ is the divinely appointed channel of guidance, and turning away from him is to turn away from Allah.
➤ 2. Doubting the Prophet’s Unseen Knowledge is Disbelief
This verse indirectly condemns those who doubted the dream of the Prophet ﷺ regarding the believers' entry into the Sacred Mosque.
To question the Prophet’s insight into the unseen, which is divinely inspired, is a form of disbelief.
The trust placed in the Prophet’s knowledge of ghayb (unseen) — as granted by Allah — is a part of true iman.
Failing to recognize this erodes the foundation of belief and aligns a person with the category of rejecters warned in this verse.
Thus, belief in both Allah and His Messenger ﷺ, and in all that the Messenger conveyed, including matters of the unseen, is mandatory for salvation. Disbelief in either results in a blazing fire, as Allah has promised in His unchanging justice.
The tafsir of Surah Fath verse 13 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
Please refer to Surah Fath ayat 11 which provides the complete commentary from verse 11 through 14.
(48:13) As for those who do not believe in Allah and His Messenger, for such unbelievers We have prepared a Blazing Fire.[25]
25. Here, Allah in clear words is declaring all such people disbelievers and devoid of the faith, who are not sincere with regard to Allah and His religion, who shirk endangering their interests, their lives and wealth for the sake of Allah’s religion when the time comes of their trial and test. But one should remember that this is not the sort of disbelief on the basis of which somebody in the world may be regarded as excommunicated from Islam, but this is the disbelief because of which he will be declared a disbeliever in the Hereafter. The reason is that the Prophet (peace be upon him) even after the revelation of this verse did not regard as outside Islam those people in respect of whom it was sent down, nor treated them like the disbelievers.
