📖 Commentary of Verse 2 (Surah Al-Muddathir)

“Arise, then warn.”

Universal Call to Prophethood [2]
This command is not limited to a place or time — it’s a declaration that the mission of the Prophet ﷺ is for every person, every era, and every region. His responsibility is to rise and warn all of mankind, not just a specific nation or tribe.

A Messenger Fully Prepared from the Start
Despite this being the early stage of revelation, the Prophet ﷺ was commanded to warn of Hell, even before Hell was formally mentioned in the Qur’an. This shows that:

Allah (اللَّهُ ) had already granted him deep knowledge, even before specific verses came.
— He was not in need of learning from others — he was sent fully prepared and divinely taught.

The Unconcealed Warner
The Prophet ﷺ described himself as a clear and open warner — meaning:
— “I see the danger ahead (like Hell) and warn others of it.”
— This highlights both his vision and responsibility — to convey truth with clarity and urgency.

(74:2) Arise, and warn,[2]

2. A command of this very nature had been given to the prophet Noah (peace be upon him) while appointing him to the office of Prophethood: Warn the people of your nation before they are overtaken by a painful torment. (Surah Nooh, Ayat 1) The verse means: O you who lays enwrapped, stand up and arouse the people who live in heedlessness around you. Warn them of the fate which would certainly overtake them if they remained involved in the same heedlessness. Warn them that they are not living in a lawless kingdom where they are free to conduct themselves as they like and where they can do wherever they please without any fear or being called to account for it.
