Transliteration:( Wa kazzabal lazeena min qablihim wa maa balaghoo mi'shaara maaa aatainaahum fakazzaboo Rusulee; fakaifa kaana nakeer (section 5) )
"And those before them rejected (the truth) and these had not yet attained one tenth of what We had given (133) them. But they belied My Messengers. Then, how was My disapproval?"
The infidels of Quraysh had not been granted even one-tenth of the wealth, children, or power that previous nations such as ‘Ād, Thamūd, and Pharaoh had received. Despite receiving less, they too rejected the truth and denied the Messengers sent to them. This highlights that spiritual strength and obedience to Allah outweigh mere physical or material power. Nations with great worldly gifts but who oppose Allah’s messengers face severe consequences. The verse urges reflection on how the divine disapproval befell those who rejected the truth, emphasizing the certainty of Allah’s punishment for disbelief.

Please refer to Surah Saba ayat 43 which provides the complete commentary from verse 43 through 45.
(34:45) Those who went before them also denounced (Allah’s Messengers) as liars. They have not attained even a tenth of what We had given them. But when they rejected My Messengers, calling them liars, how terrible was My chastisement![65]
65. That is, the people of Makkah have not attained even one-tenth of the power and grandeur and prosperity that was possessed by those people. But just see how they went to their doom ultimately and their power and wealth could not avail them anything, when they refused to believe in the realities presented before them by the Prophets, and founded their system of life on falsehood.
