📖 Commentary of Surah Saba – Verse 6

"And those who have been given the knowledge [18] know [19] that what has been revealed [20] to you from your Lord is the truth and guides to the path of the Honourable, the Laudable. [21]"

✅ [18] Possessors of True Knowledge

This refers to those endowed with divine understanding, including scholars, saints, and sincere seekers of truth. Their hearts and minds are illuminated by knowledge, enabling them to recognize the reality of divine revelation. Their certainty is rooted in spiritual insight and understanding, not mere imitation.

✅ [19] Recognizing the Truth of Revelation

Such people clearly perceive that the Qur'an—what has been revealed to the Prophet ﷺ—is indeed the truth from Allah. Their knowledge confirms that it cannot be the word of man; its depth, consistency, and transformative power testify to its divine source.

✅ [20] The Revelation from Your Lord

The verse emphasizes that the message is from your Lord, not a personal composition. This divine origin gives it unquestionable authenticity and authority, and those grounded in knowledge readily recognize it as such.

✅ [21] Path of the Honourable, the Laudable

The Qur’an guides to the way of Allah—the Honourable (Al-‘Azeez), the Laudable (Al-Hameed). It is a path marked by dignity, wisdom, mercy, and ultimate praise. Following it leads to the pleasure of Allah, Who is both mighty in authority and deserving of all praise.

Please refer to Surah Saba ayat 3 which provides the complete commentary from verse 3 through 6.

(34:6) (O Prophet), those who have knowledge see clearly that what has been revealed to you from your Lord is the Truth and directs to the Way of the Most Mighty, the Immensely Praiseworthy Lord.[9]

Ala-Maududi

(34:6) (O Prophet), those who have knowledge see clearly that what has been revealed to you from your Lord is the Truth and directs to the Way of the Most Mighty, the Immensely Praiseworthy Lord.[9]

9. That is, “These antagonists cannot succeed in their object to prove the truth presented by you false, however hard they may try, for they can only delude and misguide the ignorant people by their designs. Those possessed of knowledge cannot be deceived by them.”

(6) And those who have been given knowledge see that what is revealed to you from your Lord is the truth, and it guides to the path of the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy.
