    فَلَنُذِيقَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ عَذَابٗا شَدِيدٗا وَلَنَجۡزِيَنَّهُمۡ أَسۡوَأَ ٱلَّذِي كَانُواْ يَعۡمَلُونَ

    Transliteration:( Falanuzeeqannal lazeena kafaroo 'azaaban shadeedanw wa lanajziyannahum aswallazee kaanoo ya'maloon )

    27. Certainly We shall make the infidels taste a severe [71] punishment. And We shall surely award [72] them for their worst deeds that they used to commit. (Kanzul Imaan Translation)

    (27) But We will surely cause those who disbelieve to taste a severe punishment, and We will surely recompense them for the worst of what they had been doing. (Saheen International Translation)

    📖 Commentary of Surah Fussilat – Verse 27

    Certainly, We shall make the infidels taste a severe [71] punishment. And We shall surely award [72] them for their worst deeds that they used to commit.

    ✅ [71] Severe Punishment for Their Disbelief and Hostility

    This verse is a warning to the disbelievers who conspired to disrupt the Qur’an’s recitation and hinder its spread.
    They are clearly declared infidels, and such behavior—mocking, distracting, and suppressing the truth—is itself an act of disbelief.
    As a result, they will be made to taste a punishment that is severe, both in this world and the Hereafter.

    The verse indicates that those who actively oppose the truth will not escape divine retribution.

    ✅ [72] Repayment Will Be According to Their Worst Deeds

    They will be punished not just for one sin, but compensated with full measure for their worst actions—particularly their denial of faith and active opposition to revelation.
    According to Hazrat Abdullah ibn Abbas (رضي الله عنه),

    • The Battle of Badr was one example of Allah's punishment in the world,

    • But the true and most intense punishment will be in the Hereafter,
      thus reconciling both types of punishments mentioned in the Qur’an.

    This teaches that Allah’s justice takes into account the gravity and persistence of sins, and the punishment will be fully deserved and proportionate.
