Transliteration:( Maa yuqaalu laka illaa maa qad qeela lir Rusuli min qablik; inna Rabbaka lazoo maghfiratinw wa zoo 'iqaabin aleem )

43. Nothing will be said to you (0 Prophet), out which was not said to the Prophets before (115). 0 you. Undoubtedly, your Lord confers the forgiveness and also awards the punishment (116).

Surah Fussilat Ayat 43 Tafsir (Commentry)

  • Tafseer-e-Naeemi (Ahmad Yaar Khan)
  • Ibn Kathir
  • Ala-Madudi

115. This means that Allah Almighty has given you the command to propagate the Oneness of Allah Almighty and matters of faith as was given to previous Prophets before you. Otherwise, there is a great difference in injunctions. The titles and attributes of our Holy Prophet are most superior to that of the other Prophets. Thus, there is nothing objectionable about the verse.

116. This is the commentary of the previous statement, i.e. the other Prophets were told, and it is being said to you as well, that Allah Almighty Most Forgiving and the Vanquisher. He is Most Merciful to the believers and Most dominant over the infidels.

Ibn-Kathir

The tafsir of Surah Fussilat verse 43 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
Please refer to Surah Fussilat ayat 40 which provides the complete commentary from verse 40 through 43.

(41:43) (O Prophet), nothing is said to you but what was already said to the Messengers before you. Surely your Lord is the Lord of forgiveness[53] and the Lord of grievous chastisement.

53. That is, it is all due to His clemency and forgiveness that although His Messengers were opposed, abused and persecuted yet He went on giving respite to their opponents for years and years on end.
