Transliteration:( Balit taba'al lazeena zalamooo ahwaaa'ahum bighairi 'ilmin famai yahdee man adallal laahu wa maa lahum min naasireen )
"Nay, the unjust follow their own desires without knowledge [59]. Then, who will guide such a person, whom Allah has led astray [60]? And they have no helpers [61]."
This verse denounces the oppressors (unjust people) who follow their desires blindly, without any knowledge or certainty in matters of belief.
It teaches that faith must be based on certainty (yaqeen)—not on conformity, assumptions, or conjecture.
True belief demands sound understanding and verified truth, not just emotional or inherited opinions.
Allah does not arbitrarily misguide anyone.
Misguidance occurs when a person becomes a slave to his lower self (nafs), committing injustice and ignoring truth.
As a punishment, Allah allows the person to fall deeper into error.
Thus, apostasy and deviation are results of a person's own wrongdoing, not an imposed command from Allah.
Such misguided individuals have no helpers, neither in this world nor in the Hereafter.
At the time of divine punishment, they are left helpless, unlike believers who are aided by Allah’s mercy and His appointed helpers.
The absence of helpers is itself a manifestation of divine punishment for their persistent rebellion.
This verse underscores that true guidance is from Allah, and once a person chooses to persist in injustice, no one can save or guide him thereafter.
The tafsir of Surah Ar-Rum verse 29 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
Please refer to Surah Rum ayat 28 which provides the complete commentary from verse 28 through 29.
(30:29) But the wrong-doers follow their desires without any knowledge. Who, then, can show the way to him whom Allah lets go astray?[41] Such shall have no helpers.
41. That is, when a person neither thinks on the right way by himself, nor is prepared to listen to a well-wisher, his intellect comes under the curse of Allah. After this everything that can help reasonable person to reach the truth, only helps this stubborn and ignorant person to be involved more and more deeply in further deviation and error. This is what has been conveyed in the word “sending astray”. When a truth-loving person invokes Allah for the grace of guidance, Allah creates for him maximum means of the guidance according to the sincerity of his invocation. And when a strayed person insists on his deviation, Allah creates for him the means which mislead him further and further away from the truth.”
