Transliteration:( Nahnu a'lamu bimaa yaqooloona wa maaa anta 'alaihim bijabbaarin fazakkir bil quraani many yakhaafu wa'eed )
"We know best what they say [75], and you are not (assigned) to compel [76] them. So remind those by the Quran who fear My warning [77]."
The verse refers to the infidels of Quraysh who rejected the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and denied the Day of Judgment, while also refuting the power of Allah. Allah states that He is fully aware of everything they say and do.
Despite their rejection, Allah has full knowledge of their misdeeds and will hold them accountable for their disbelief and defiance. This serves as a reminder that no action or speech is hidden from Allah.
Allah tells the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) that he is not tasked with compelling the disbelievers to believe. The Prophet is not responsible for forcing anyone to accept Islam.
This verse confirms that there is no compulsion in religion (as stated in Surah 2, Verse 256). The aim of Jihad (Holy War) is not to force people to accept faith but to weaken the power of disbelief and allow freedom of belief.
Jihad is meant to break the oppressive powers that prevent people from freely accepting Islam, not to force faith upon people.
The Prophet (PBUH) is instructed to remind and warn those who fear Allah’s warning—the believers and those who are neglectful of His punishment—through the teachings of the Quran.
The Quran serves as a reminder to those who fear Allah's punishment and also as a means of guidance for the obedient servants of Allah. The verse makes it clear that the role of the Prophet is to remind and warn but not to compel anyone to believe.

Please refer to Surah Qaf ayat 41 which provides the complete commentary from verse 41 through 45.
(50:45) (O Prophet), We are well aware of what they say;[55] and you are not required to force things on them. So exhort with the Qur’an all those who fear My warning.[56]
55. In this sentence there is consolation for the Prophet (peace be upon him) as well as a threat for the disbelievers. Addressing the Prophet (peace be upon him) it has been said: Do not care at all about what these foolish people utter about you. We are hearing everything and it is for Us to deal with it. The disbelievers are being warned to the effect: The taunting remarks that you are passing against Our Prophet will cost you dearly. We are hearing everything that you utter and you will have to suffer for its consequences.
56. This does not mean that the Prophet (peace be upon him) wanted to compel the people into believing and Allah stopped him from this. But, in fact, although the Prophet (peace be upon him) has been addressed, the disbelievers are being warned, as if to say: Our Prophet has not been sent as a dictator over you. He is not there to compel you to become believers even if you did not wish to believe. His only responsibility is that he should recite the Quran and make the truth plain to the one who would take the warning. Now, if you do not accept his invitation, We will deal with you, not he.
