Transliteration:( Qaaloo Subhaanaka maa kaana yanbaghee lanaaa an nattakhiza min doonika min awliyaaa'a wa laakin matta'tahum wa aabaaa'ahum hattaa nasooz zikra wa kaanoo qawman booraa )
32. This means when we ourselves did not accept anyone as a deity besides You, then how can one give such an instruction to them?
33. The purpose of this is not to raise an objection on Allah Almighty but to express that these wicked people had taken undue advantage of Your leniency, i.e. instead of being grateful, they became infidels.

(25:18) They will say: “Glory be to You! It did not behove us to take any other than You as our guardians, but You lavished the pleasures of life upon them and their forefathers until they forgot the Admonition and became doomed to destruction.”26
26. That is, they were mean people: You gave them all the provisions of life so that they may show gratitude to You, but they became ungrateful and ignored all the admonitions given by the Prophets.
