Quran Quote  :

Quran-25:3 Surah Al-furqan English Translation,Transliteration and Tafsir(Tafseer).

Transliteration:( Wattakhazoo min dooniheee aalihatal laa yakhluqoona shai'anw wa hum yukhlaqoona wa laa yamlikoona li anfusihim darranw wa laa naf'anw wa laa yamlikoona mawtanw wa laa hayaatanw wa laa nushooraa )

3. And the people have taken other gods besides Him. They created nothing and they themselves have been created (7), and they themselves are not the owners (8) of their own souls either for bad or for good, and neither they have the power to die nor to be alive nor to rise up (9)".

Surah Al-Furqan Ayat 3 Tafsir (Commentry)

  • Tafseer-e-Naeemi (Ahmad Yaar Khan)
  • Ibn Kathir
  • Ala-Madudi

7. True God can only be Him Who is the Creator. Thus the acknowledgment by the polytheists of their idols as gods but not as creators is totally wrong even according to their own views.

8. Let alone these lifeless stones providing any benefit or harm to you, they are totally helpless from removing anything that may be harmful to themselves. Some people try to apply this verse to the Saints of Allah Almighty is the way of the deviators from islam.. No believer ever worships the grave of the Saint. There is a great difference between resepct and worship. We devotedly respect the Holy Ka'ba and the Holy Qur'aan but no one says that they cannot ward off any difficulties (they do not have the power to even literally, get rid of the flies). Therefore what respect can we show for them.
9. This means no one's life and death and resurrection after death is within the control of these idols. Hence in what way can they be regarded as deities. Even the polytheists ackno-wledge this, yet they regard them as deities.

Ibn-Kathir

3. Yet they have taken besides Him other gods who created nothing but are themselves created, and possess neither harm nor benefit for themselves, and possess no power (of causing) death, nor (of giving) life, nor of raising the dead.

The Foolishness of the Idolators

Allah tells us of the ignorance of the idolators in taking other gods instead of Allah, the Creator of all things, the One Who controls the affairs of all things; whatever He wills happens and whatever He does not will does not happen. In spite of that, they still worshipped others besides Him, idols who could not even create the wing of a gnat, but were themselves created. They could neither do harm nor bring benefit to themselves, so how could they do anything for their worshippers

(and possess no power (of causing) death, nor (of giving) life, nor of raising the dead.) means, they could not do any of that at all; that power belongs only to Allah, Who is the One Who gives life and death, and is the One Who will bring all people, the first and the last, back to life on the Day of Resurrection.

(The creation of you all and the resurrection of you all are only as (the creation and resurrection of) a single person) (31:28). This is like the Ayat;

(And Our commandment is but one as the twinkling of an eye.) (54:50)

(But it will be only a single Zajrah. When behold, they find themselves on the surface of the earth alive after their death.) (79:13-14)

(It will be a single Zajrah, and behold, they will be staring!) (37:19)

(It will be but a single Sayhah, so behold they will all be brought up before Us!) (36:53). He is Allah besides Whom there is no other God and besides Whom there is no other Lord. No one should be worshipped except Him because whatever He wills happens and whatever he does not will does not happen. He has no offspring nor progenitor, nor equal nor likeness nor rival nor peer. He is the One, the Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need, He begets not, nor was He begotten, and there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him.

(25:3) Yet people have taken, instead of Him, other deities; those that create nothing but are themselves created;[9] who do not have the power to hurt or benefit even themselves; who have no power over death, nor over life, nor over the resurrection of the dead.[10]

9. The words are comprehensive and cover all the false gods whom the mushriks worship whether they are angels, jinns, Prophets, saints, the sun, the moon, the stars, trees, rivers, animals etc., which have been created by Allah, or those which have been created by man, as the idols of stone, wood, etc.

10. That is, Allah has sent down Al-Furqan on His servant so that he may invite the people to the truth, which they have forsaken due to heedlessness and waywardness, and warn them of the evil consequences of their folly. The Furqan is being revealed piecemeal so that he may distinguish right from wrong and the genuine from the counterfeit.
