Transliteration:( Wa 'Aadanw wa Samooda wa As haabar Rassi wa quroonan baina zaalika katheeraa )

38. And the Aad and the Thamud and the people of the well (71) and many generations in between.

71. The Aad are the people of Hazrat Hud (On whom be peace) the Thamood is of Hazrat Saleh (On whom be peace) and the people of the well are that of Hazrat Shuaib (On whom be peace), whose houses were situated near the well. 

They had closed this well with a heavy stone and would open it at a stipulated time to take water out of it.

Ala-Maududi

(25:38) And in like manner were the ‘Ad and the Thamud destroyed and the people of al-Rass[52] and many a nation in the centuries in between.

52. There is no definite knowledge about the people of the Raas. Different commentators have said different things about them, but nothing is convincing. The only thing that may be said about them is that they were a people who had killed their Prophet by throwing him into or hanging him down a Rass (an old or dry well).
