Transliteration:( Fa 'asaw Rasoola Rabbihim fa akhazahum akhzatar raabiyah )
"And they disobeyed [10] the Messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a severe penalty."
This verse highlights that divine punishment only comes to those who disobey the Messenger sent by Allah. It is not mere disobedience that leads to destruction, but specifically the rejection of the guidance brought by the Messenger. Allah’s punishment is a consequence of the deliberate disobedience of His divine representatives, sent to warn and guide people towards righteousness.
The verse is in line with Allah’s statement in Surah Al-Isra (17:15), which clarifies that divine torment is only meted out after a Messenger has been sent. The nations mentioned earlier, like Pharaoh and the people of Lot, were destroyed after rejecting their respective prophets, showing that the severity of the punishment was due to their disobedience to the Messenger of Allah.
