📖 Commentary of Verse 28 (Surah Al-Qari'ah)

"My wealth has availed me nothing [33]."

✅ [33] The Futility of Wealth in the Hereafter

In this verse, the disbeliever laments that their wealth has proven useless in the face of the overwhelming reality of the Day of Judgement. Despite all the wealth they accumulated in this world, it cannot save them from the punishment they now face. The verse emphasizes that worldly possessions offer no protection when one is confronted with the consequences of their deeds in the Hereafter.

This regret reflects the ultimate futility of relying on material wealth, status, or power, which cannot shield anyone from divine justice. The disbeliever realizes that wealth, no matter how abundant, holds no value when it comes to salvation on the Day of Judgement.

Benefit of Wealth for Believers

In contrast, the wealth of a believer will benefit them in the Hereafter, but only if it was earned lawfully and used in accordance with divine guidance. The charities and legacies left by the believer will continue to benefit them, as these are part of the righteous deeds that Allah rewards. Charitable actions, such as helping others and leaving a good legacy, contribute to the believer’s ultimate reward in Paradise, if Allah wills.

For the disbelievers, however, charities or legacies will not benefit them in the Hereafter, as their actions are not aligned with faith and obedience to Allah. The verse illustrates that wealth, when acquired with righteous intentions and used to help others, has eternal value, whereas wealth obtained through unlawful means offers no benefit in the Hereafter.
