Transliteration:( Wa laqad adalla minkum jibillan kaseeraa; afalam takoonoo ta'qiloon )
"And indeed, he (Shaitaan) had led astray [93] many people from amongst you. Why did you then not understand?"
This refers to how Shaitaan misled many from previous nations, leading to their destruction. The disbelievers being addressed here are warned that they should have reflected on these past events.
By following the commands and whispers of the devil, earlier communities were ruined—yet they did not learn a lesson.
This verse is a clear and direct rebuke. It reminds the disbelievers that Shaitaan misled them in various ways, and yet they failed to use their intellect to recognise the danger and return to the truth.
The tafsir of Surah Yaseen verse 62 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
Please refer to Surah Yaseen ayat 59 which provides the complete commentary from verse 59 through 62.
(36:62) Still, he misguided a whole throng of you. Did you have no sense?[54]
54. That is, If you had been deprived of reason and you had served your enemy instead of your Lord, you could have the reason to offer an excuse. But you, in fact, had been blessed with reason by Allah and you were using it to advantage in all the affairs of the world, and you had been warned by Allah through the Prophets as well, yet, when you were deceived by your enemy and he succeeded in leading you astray, you could not be excused from the responsibility of your folly.
