"When We sent [17] to them two Messengers [18], they belied [19] them. So We strengthened them with a third [20]. Now they all said: 'Surely, We have been sent to you as Messengers.'"
Allah mentions that He sent two Messengers to the people of the city. These were real Prophets, chosen to guide their nation toward belief and righteousness.
The people of the city denied the first two Prophets, rejecting their message outright. Instead of showing interest or seeking clarity, they refused to believe, showing the same arrogance and stubbornness seen in past communities.
When the first two were denied, Allah sent a third Messenger to reinforce their message. This shows the mercy and patience of Allah—He provided additional support, not punishment, giving the people more chance to believe.
The three together declared: “We have indeed been sent to you.” Their united voice reflected truth, unity, and strength, but the people's hearts remained hardened.
