Transliteration:( Masalul lazeenat takhazoo min doonil laahi awliyaaa'a kamasalil 'ankaboot, ittakhazat baitaa; wa inna awhanal buyooti la baitul 'ankaboot; law kaanoo ya'lamoon )
101. They made the enemies of Allah Almighty their friends and these are friends besides Allah His friends are the Saints. Says Allah Almighty, “The supporters of the infidels are the devils, and they bring them forth from light towards darkness" (S2.V257) Accepting the Saints as friends of Allah Almighty is a pillar of our faith. Here the friend could mean the true Master, and the true Being worthy of worship.

102. This means it is like the web of the spider. which cannot ward off the cold, or stop the flow of dust. In appearance, it is well spread out, but in reality, it is nothing. If your finger were to touch it it breaks. Similar is the condition of the religion of the infidels. It is just an outward show, in reality, it is nothing.
103. It neither has a foundation nor any walls. nor a ceiling or anything concrete.Â
104. The infidels of Arabia would worship the idols in times of comfort but under difficult conditions, they would call upon Allah Almighty only and seek help from Him.
As if these idols by themselves could not be of assistance to them under adverse conditions. But they did not think about this i.e. just as they were calling upon Him in their times of difficulties. They should have done so in their times of comfon as well.Â
Here a complaint is made about this. Our seeking of police help during difficulties or seeking the help of Saints and Prophets to ward off calamities is not included in this, because we take them as those reflecting the removal of difficulties and providers of assistance by Allah Almighty.Â
This seeking of help is not polytheism. If a Sinful believer goes to the mazaar of the Holy Prophet ? for forgiveness through him, it cannot be regarded as polytheism Moulana Jami states "Oh Messenger of Allah though I am totally insignificant and my sins huge as a mountain. I have come to your court to seek forgiveness for them"

41. The parable of those who seek protectors from other than Allah is that of a spider who builds a house; but indeed, the weakest of houses is the spider’s house — if they but knew. 42. Verily, Allah knows what things they invoke instead of Him. He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. 43. And these are the examples We give for mankind; but none will understand them except those who have knowledge (of Allah).
This is how Allah described the idolators in their reverence of gods besides Him, hoping that they would help them and provide for them, and turning to them in times of difficulties. In this regard, they were like the house of a spider, which is so weak and frail, because by clinging to these gods they were like a person who holds on to a spider’s web, who does not gain any benefit from that. If they knew this, they would not take any protectors besides Allah. This is unlike the Muslim believer, whose heart is devoted to Allah, yet he still does righteous deeds and follows the Laws of Allah, for he has grasped the most trustworthy handle that will never break because it is so strong and firm. Then Allah warns those who worship others besides Him and associate others with Him that He knows what they do and the rivals they associate with Him. He will punish them for their attribution, for He is All-Wise and All-Knowing. Then He says:
(And these are the examples We give for mankind; but none will understand them except those who have knowledge.) meaning, no one understands them or ponders them except those who are possessed of deep knowledge. Ibn Abi Hatim recorded that `Amr bin Murrah said, “I never came across an Ayah of the Book of Allah that I did not know, but it grieved me, because I heard that Allah says:
(And these are the examples We give for mankind; but none will understand them except those who have knowledge. )”
(29:41) The case of those who took others than Allah as their protectors is that of a spider who builds a house; but the frailest of all houses is the spider’s house; if they only knew.[73]
73. All the above mentioned nations were involved in shirk, and their belief about their deities was that they were their supporters and helpers and guardians, and had the power to make or mar their destinies. So when they will have won their goodwill by worship and presentation of offerings, they will succor them in need and protect them against calamities and afflictions. But, as shown by the historical events cited above, all their beliefs and superstitions proved to be baseless when their destruction was decreed by Allah. Then no god, and no god incarnate, and no saint or spirit, and no jinn or angel, whom they worshiped came to their rescue, and they met their destruction with the realization that their expectations and beliefs had been false and futile. After relating these events, Allah is now warning the mushriks to the effect: The reality of the toy-house of expectations that you have built on your faith in the powerless servants and imaginary deities, apart from the real Master and Ruler of the universe, is no more than the cobweb of a spider. Just as a cobweb cannot stand the slightest interference by a finger, so will the toy-house of your expectations collapse in its first clash with the scheme of Allah. It is nothing but ignorance that you are involved in the web of superstition. If you had any knowledge of the reality, you would not have built your system of life on baseless props. The fact is that none other than the One Lord of the worlds in this universe is the Owner of power and authority, and His support is the only support which is reliable. “Now whoever rejects taghut and believes in Allah has taken a firm support that never gives way. And Allah hears everything and knows everything,” (Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayat 256).
