📖 Commentary of Surah Al-‘Ankabut – Verse 69

And those who strive in Our cause, We will surely guide them to Our ways [167]. Indeed, Allah is with the righteous.

✅ [167] Divine Guidance for the Sincere Strivers

This verse is a powerful promise from Allah Almighty: those who make sincere efforts in His path—whether through worship, learning, sacrifice, or servicewill be guided to the various paths that lead to His pleasure. These paths are numerous, including the paths of knowledge, action, patience, devotion, and following the Sunnah.

The concluding statement, “Indeed, Allah is with the righteous,” assures that His mercy, support, forgiveness, and kindness remain with those who possess taqwa (God-consciousness). It is similar to another verse:
“Surely the mercy of Allah is near to the good-doers.” (Surah Al-A'raaf – Verse 56)

Thus, the verse assures believers that sincere effort never goes in vain—it is the key to divine nearness and lasting success.

Ibn-Kathir

The tafsir of Surah Ankabut verse 69 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
Please refer to Surah Ankabut ayat 67 which provides the complete commentary from verse 67 through 69.

(29:69) As for those who strive in Our cause, We shall surely guide them to Our Ways.[107] Indeed Allah is with those who do good.

Ala-Maududi

(29:69) As for those who strive in Our cause, We shall surely guide them to Our Ways.[107] Indeed Allah is with those who do good.

107. The word mujahadah has already been explained in (Surah Al-Ankabut, ayat 6) note 8 above. There it was said that a person who exerts will exert for his own good (Surah Al-Ankabut, ayat 6). Here it is being reassured that Allah does not leave alone those who strive in His cause sincerely, even at the risk of a conflict with the entire world, but He helps and guides them and opens for them ways towards Himself. He teaches them at every step the way of winning His approval and goodwill and He shows them the light at every turning point to discriminate between the right way and the wrong ways of life. In short, Allah helps and succors and guides them according to their sincerity and intensity of desire for goodness.

(69) And those who strive for Us - We will surely guide them to Our ways.[1136] And indeed, Allāh is with the doers of good.

[1136]- The various ways and means to attain the acceptance and pleasure of Allāh.
