Transliteration:( Zaalikum bimaa kuntum tafrahoona fil ardi bighairil haqqi wa bimaa kuntum tamrahoon )
"That is because they enjoyed [190] on the earth without right and because they behaved boastfully [191]."
This refers to the infidels’ behavior in the world—they delighted in their polytheism, material gains, and sinful pleasures without any right or gratitude. They lived lives of heedlessness, indulging in worldly joy while denying the truth and mocking the believers.
They were not just joyful, but boastful and proud, refusing to accept guidance. This verse highlights that:
Rejoicing in falsehood is a mark of disbelief.
Rejoicing in truth is an act of worship.
As Allah says:
“Say you, only Allah's grace and only His mercy – on it therefore let them rejoice. That is better than all their wealth” (Surah Yunus: Verse 58).
Hence, real joy is rooted in faith and Divine mercy—not in arrogance or rebellion.

(40:75) (They will be told): “This is because while you were on earth you took delight in untruth and exulted in it.[104]
104. That is, you not only followed that which was untrue and false, but you became so enamored of the untruth that when the truth was presented before you, you paid no heed to it, but continued to exult in your worship of the falsehood.
