Surah Al-Hajj Ayat 62 Tafsir (Commentry)

  • Tafseer-e-Naeemi (Ahmad Yaar Khan)
  • Ibn Kathir
  • Ala-Madudi

128. This means that these false deities are fictitious. This verse has no connection with the Prophets and saints as they are true because they belong to the One who is Truth.

Says Allah Almighty: "The Truth has come to you from your Lord” (S10.V108). The Holy Prophet said: "Whoever sees me has seen the Truth", because the relative pronoun that is used to denote inanimate and non-thinking things.

Thus although Hazrat Isa (On whom be peace) and Hazrat Uzair On the infidels, this would not result in these two great personalities being called false. They are indeed Truth. Every action of theirs is true. Or the verse means that the worship of those other than Allah Almighty by the infidels is false.

In that case, the pronoun MA would be an active noun. Or you could say that the People of the Book in reality were not worshipping the Prophets but rather their statues, pictures and the cross and all these things in reality are false.

Ibn-Kathir

The tafsir of Surah Al-Hajj verse 62 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
Please refer to Surah Hajj ayat 61 which provides the complete commentary from verse 61 through 62.

(22:62) So shall it be because Allah, He is the Truth, and all whom they invoke instead of Him are false.[109] Allah is Most High, All-Great.

109. As Allah is in fact the Sovereign of the universe, His worshipers will surely attain true success and the worshipers of false gods will meet with utter failure.
