📖 Commentary of Surah Al-Hajj – Verse 65

"Have you not seen that Allah has subjected to you whatever is in the earth [132]? And that the boat runs in the river by His command? And He has withheld [133] the sky that it may not fall on the earth but by His command. Indeed, Allah is Most Loving, Most Affectionate towards human beings. [134]"

✅ [132] Subjection of Earthly Resources

Allah has made all earthly thingsanimals, fire, water, mineralssubservient to human needs and benefit. This reflects His mercy and favour.

✅ [133] Sky Suspended by Divine Will

The sky remains suspended—not falling—purely by Allah’s command. This is referenced again in: "Allah withholds the heavens and the earth lest they move…" (S35:V41).

Despite no visible support, it remains firm until the Day of Judgement, when it will collapse by His will.

✅ [134] Divine Affection for Humanity

Allah is Most Loving—bestowing countless worldly comforts, protecting from calamities, and granting heavenly blessings through His Prophets and Saints. This reveals His deep compassion and mercy towards mankind.

Ibn-Kathir

The tafsir of Surah Al-Hajj verse 65 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
Please refer to Surah Hajj ayat 63 which provides the complete commentary from verse 63 through 66.

(22:65) Have you not seen how Allah has subjected to you all that is in the earth, and the vessels that sail in the sea by His command,[113] and it is He Who holds back the sky that it may not fall on earth except by His leave? Surely Allah is Most Gentle, Ever Compassionate to people.

Ala-Maududi

(22:65) Have you not seen how Allah has subjected to you all that is in the earth, and the vessels that sail in the sea by His command,[113] and it is He Who holds back the sky that it may not fall on earth except by His leave? Surely Allah is Most Gentle, Ever Compassionate to people.

113. Here “the heaven” implies the whole of the universe above and below the earth where everything is held in its own place and sphere.

(65) Do you not see that Allāh has subjected to you whatever is on the earth and the ships which run through the sea by His command? And He restrains the sky from falling upon the earth, unless by His permission. Indeed Allāh, to the people, is Kind and Merciful.
