    11. With it, He causes crops to grow for you, as well as olives, dates, grapes, and all kinds of fruits [19]. Surely, in that, there are signs for a people who reflect [20]. (Kanzul Imaan Translation)

    📖 Commentary of Surah An-Nahl – Verse 11

    "With it, He causes crops to grow for you, as well as olives, dates, grapes, and all kinds of fruits [19]. Surely, in that, there are signs for a people who reflect [20]."

    ✅ [19] Spiritual and Physical Nourishment from Divine Revelation

    According to the Sufi sages, this verse also carries a profound spiritual meaning. The Shari‘ah is seen as the field of faith—a system through which the life of belief is preserved. The religious deeds that emerge from it are like the seeds and grains planted in that field.

    Then comes Tariqah, which is considered the garden of faith, with its acts of devotion, spiritual seclusion, and mystic communion—all described as the tasty fruits of that garden. This entire spiritual structure is rooted in the Qur'an. If a person's life is not nourished by the Qur'an and Hadith, then they are wandering in the darkness of misguidance.

    ✅ [20] Lessons in Order, Preference, and Reflection

    Several important insights emerge from this verse:

    1. The mention of fields before gardens signifies that cultivation (farming) is more essential to human life than gardening. Farming sustains life, while gardening offers aesthetic pleasure. Therefore, the field of crops is rightly mentioned first.

    2. Olives, dates, and grapes are highlighted because of their superiority among fruits—both in nutritional value and spiritual symbolism.

    3. The phrase "of every kind" does not mean that all fruits exist in this world. Rather, only a few varieties are available here. The complete and perfect forms of fruits will be found only in Paradise, which explains the use of broad wording in the verse.

    4. Lastly, the verse emphasizes that deep reflection (tadabbur) is superior to mere verbal remembrance (dhikr). Through contemplation and reflection, a person may be elevated to the ranks of the Awliya (Saints).
