    قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي ظَلَمۡتُ نَفۡسِي فَٱغۡفِرۡ لِي فَغَفَرَ لَهُۥٓۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

    Transliteration:( Qaala Rabbi innee zalamtu nafsee faghfir lee faghafaralah; innahoo Huwal Ghafoorur Raheem )

    16. He said, 'O my Lord, I have wronged my soul, [43] so forgive me,' and He forgave him. Indeed, He is the Forgiving, the Merciful. [44] (Kanzul Imaan Translation)

    📖 Commentary of Surah Al-Qasas – Verse 16

    "He said, 'O my Lord, I have wronged my soul, [43] so forgive me,' and He forgave him. Indeed, He is the Forgiving, the Merciful. [44]"

    ✅ [43] A Humble Confession

    Musa’s statement was not an admission of sin in the legal sense, but a display of deep humility and etiquette before Allah. Prophets, though innocent, express such words to teach others the method of repentance. His plea shows sincerity, not guilt over an unjust act—especially since the slain Qibti was an oppressive disbeliever. If the killing had been sinful, legal compensation or punishment would have applied, yet none was required.

    ✅ [44] Divine Forgiveness

    Allah forgave Musa immediately, indicating that the act was not a sin in Shari'ah terms. The forgiveness of prophets does not imply they commit sins; rather, it affirms their purity and infallibility. Just as Allah declared the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ forgiven in past and future, the same principle applied here—Musa remained sinless and under divine protection.

    (28:16) Then he prayed:[23] “My Lord! I have indeed inflicted wrong on myself, so do forgive me,” wherefore Allah forgave him for He is Ever Forgiving, Most Merciful.[24]

    23. What the Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) meant by this prayer was: “O my Lord, forgive this sin of mine, which you know I have not committed willfully, and also cover and conceal it from the people.”

    24. This has two meanings and both are implied here: Allah pardoned Moses’ error as well as concealed his sin from the people so that neither any Egyptian, nor any official of the Egyptian government, passed that way at that time that he might witness the incident. So, the Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) got an opportunity to escape undetected from the place of the occurrence of murder.
