Transliteration:( Qul ara'aitum in ja'alal laahu 'alaikumun nahaara sarmadan ilaa Yawmil Qiyaamati man ilaahun ghairul laahi yaateekum bilailin taskunoona feehi afalaa tubsiroon )
"Say, 'Have you considered if Allah were to make the day perpetual until the Day of Resurrection [177], who besides Allah could bring you night to rest in [178]? Will you not then see?'"
This verse invites reflection on a reverse scenario: What if the day never ended, and there was no night ever again—right up to the Day of Resurrection?
The implications are immense:
Could anyone stop the sun from remaining in the center of the sky?
Could anyone control its position or movement across the heavens?
The verse is a rebuttal to those who falsely believe in the immutability of nature or independent laws of the cosmos. These are subject to Allah’s will, not bound by philosophy or human logic.
This verse yields two key lessons:
It is entirely within Allah’s power to cause the sun to stop, lose its radiance, never set, or even cease to exist.
To claim that the motion of celestial bodies is eternally necessary is a philosophical fallacy and a form of disbelief, for it limits the divine will of Allah Almighty.
The alternation of day and night is one of Allah’s greatest blessings.
Day brings activity and sustenance.
Night provides rest and recovery.
If either were to become perpetual, it would not be a mercy—but a form of torment.
This verse reminds us that even the seemingly routine patterns of life are dependent upon Allah’s will and mercy, not automatic natural laws.
