(75) And We will extract from every nation a witness and say, "Produce your proof," and they will know that the truth belongs to Allāh, and lost from them is that which they used to invent. (Saheen International Translation)

📖 Commentary of Surah Al-Qasas – Verse 75

"And We shall draw a witness from every people [182] and then say, 'Bring your proof.' They will then know that the truth belongs to Allah and that which they used to fabricate will be lost from them. [183]"

✅ [182] Testimony of the Prophets Over Their Nations

This verse signifies that a Prophet from every nation will be brought forward as a witness over the deeds—both good and evil—of their respective Ummah (nation).

  • This indicates that the Prophets are fully aware of both the apparent and hidden actions of their followers.

  • Therefore, their testimony will be authoritative and truthful on the Day of Judgement.

✅ [183] Collapse of Falsehood and Exposure of Deceit

When it will be said, "Bring your proof", the disbelievers will be unable to present any valid testimony.

  • Their false deities, fabricated beliefs, and deceptive arguments will abandon them.

  • They will realize too late that only Allah possesses the truth, and that everything they ascribed falsely to Him—be it idols or other deities—was completely baseless.

This verse is a strong reminder of the futility of shirk (polytheism) and the irrefutable justice that will be established through the testimony of the Prophets and the loss of all false intercessors on the Day of Reckoning.

Please refer to Surah Qasas ayat 74 which provides the complete commentary from verse 74 through 75.

(28:75) And from each people We shall draw a witness,[92] and shall say to them: “Do produce your evidence now.”[93] Then they shall know that the Truth is with Allah alone, and the lies which they had invented will forsake them.

Ala-Maududi

(28:75) And from each people We shall draw a witness,[92] and shall say to them: “Do produce your evidence now.”[93] Then they shall know that the Truth is with Allah alone, and the lies which they had invented will forsake them.

92. “A witness”: the prophet who had warned that community, or a rightly guided person from among the followers of the prophets, who had performed the duty of preaching the truth in the community, or a means through which the message of the truth had reached the community.

93. That is, “Present a cogent argument in your defense so that you are pardoned. You should either prove that the shirk and the denial of the Hereafter and prophethood in which you persisted were the correct creed. And you had adopted it on rational grounds. Or, if you cannot do that, you should at least prove that no arrangement had been made by God to warn you of this error and guide you to the right path.”

(75) And We will extract from every nation a witness and say, "Produce your proof," and they will know that the truth belongs to Allāh, and lost from them is that which they used to invent.
